Buddy, formally known as Simmie Sims III, is a rapper and singer who has worked closely with Pharrell Williams and Kaytranada. His 2017 EP Ocean and Montana, an independent five-track effort recorded with Kaytranada, featured the single “Find Me.”
This past summer, he released his debut full-length album Harlan & Alondra, featuring A$AP Ferg, Ty Dolla $ign, Snoop Dogg, and Khalid, which is both a nod to Sims’ childhood home and a wide-angle tribute to L.A. “It’s beautiful day music,” he says. “Not just for the hood or the strip club, but for the beach, the freeway, the hills, downtown. I wanted to paint a well-rounded portrait of my home city.”
This year, Buddy also joined Joey Badass on his Amerikkkana Tour and made appearances at Lollapalooza and Rolling Loud.
