Storke Plaza, Wednesday, Oct. 8th – 3:45 pm
On May 23rd, the Isla Vista community suffered from a tragedy that we will never forget. On May 24th, The Isla Vista community came together in a way that our city had never seen. The powerful impact of the candle-lit vigil left a mark on the community that we want to revisit and embody once more. We understand that a lot of students may still be feeling pain from the tragedies of the spring, and believe that though we mourn for the loss of our colleagues, they must not be forgotten with each generation of students.
In order to heal and pave our way for a better future for Isla Vista, the students at AS Program Board as well as other Associated Students entities would like to invite you to attend our community event, “Come Together: Remember, Reconnect, and Unite.” Please join us once again on October 8th, at 3:45pm in Storke Plaza not only in remembering the loved ones we lost, but also in resolve to forge a better future for Isla Vista, and to create better relationships amongst ourselves.
The Isla Vista community has the opportunity to take what we learned about fostering love with your neighbors, taking care of our city, and ourselves and working towards a better future with us as we begin a new school year. This event is made by the students for the students, and will feature student speakers, speakers from the university, as well as live music and entertainment.
Take care of yourselves and we hope to see you there.
