This year, you’ve seen AS Program Board at UCSB expand its programming to include events such as Delirium (ft. Young the Giant and FMLYBND) and the Come Together event with Jack Johnson. After much planning and effort, we are extremely excited to announce our newest unprecedented installment…

THE WARM UP SPRING CONCERT on Saturday, April 4th, 2015.

The Warm Up will be an all-encompassing package of arts and live music for UCSB students to find alternatives to the hectic-ness of “Deltopia”. This is a collaborative effort by many different UCSB organizations to provide as many opportunities, activities, and alternatives for students as possible. We, at AS Program Board, are giving the gaucho community a show like you’ve never experienced before in the Thunderdome.

This idea was initiated by students, for students, and with the help of the university to make it happen. This is our way of claiming back our community and truly keeping it local. Our efforts come in conjunction with the pledge to keep Isla Vista local:

“I pledge to respect my fellow gauchos, my community and myself on April 4, 2015 by choosing to not invite friends from out of town, host an open party or act in a way that would reflect poorly upon Isla Vista.”
We at AS Program Board have taken the pledge — Will YOU?

So shake off that absolutely freezing, 65 degree winter cold and be a part of the movement that is warming up to an amazing spring quarter of programming, including the much anticipated EXTRAVAGANZA 2015.

On Another Eternity, Purity Ring trade the gorgeously claustrophobic atmospheres of Shrines for wide-open, muscular vistas of sound and luminous, up-front vocals. Crafting a lyrical universe of “sweat and dreams” populated by seacastles, rattling spines, and weeping drawers, Megan James wields concrete imagery and metaphor with increasingly direct, startling resonance. Corin Roddick’s gifts for evocative melody remain intact, but his drum work and use of space have been completely reforged: immaculately built and focused in service of the song.

Sweater Beats will be opening–Seducing the world via his own brand of dream-soaked pop and lushed out r&b, Antonio Cuna, aka Sweater Beats, is a force to be reckoned with. Since the release of his single “MLLN DLLR” on Bondax’s Justus Recordings in 2012, Cuna has gathered support from Diplo, Annie Mac, Para One and more with his unique tracks and bootlegs. His skillful synth work and vocal manipulations translate bedroom music to the club, and his DJ sets are as diverse as they are emotional. Sweater Beats’ debut EP for Symbols (“That Feel”) sees Antonio ditching samples in favor of original vocalists, and the finished product is a glimpse of what R&B might sound like in the year 2020
