A Conversation with Dr. Angela Davis

Dr. Angela Davis is a historical icon and legend who has been active as a teacher, writer, and activist. Dr. Davis gained national attention in 1969 after being removed from UCLA for her activism and Communist Party membership, and was later placed on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List in 1970, leading to her 1972 acquittal after a global “Free Angela Davis” campaign. An advocate for prisoners’ rights and prison abolition, Davis is a founding member of Critical Resistance and works internationally with organizations calling for more resources for education rather than the prison system.
